Apartments at the Gabbler
Welcome to The Downright Gabbler – a former coaching inn dating back to the 1830s in the centre of Beauly in the Scottish Highlands
Apartments At The Gabbler
Luxury Self Catering Scotland
The apartments at the Gabbler are named for the four counties on the North Coast 500 route. Caithness, Sutherland, Ross and Inverness, all of which are an easy and awe-inspiring day trip from your base in Beauly.
Like the Highland landcape, our suites are all different shapes and sizes. You’ll find something in each apartment to give you a flavour of the county they’re named after, be it the crockery, a lamp or a painting on the wall.
All have a bedroom, sitting room, with integrated mini kitchen, and an en-suite shower room. The apartments on the top floor are the traditional attic rooms, with some sloping ceilings, so you have to mind your head in some places!
Access to the communal front door is via a keypad. Each apartment has its own front door, accessed via a key safe.  There is free on street parking outside and in the Square. Please note this is an old building, and we do not have a lift.

Each apartment is individually styled, each with its own personality and quirky touches from the county the apartment is named after

See & Do
We are passionate about our local area and the thriving village of Beauly is a popular destination.
Visit Beauly
Set around a square, with ruins of the Priory at one end, its beautiful floral displays attract visitors from far and wide. It is home to a wide range of independent shops including award winning gift shops, art galleries and the legendary Campbell's of Beauly which has a Royal Warrant from Her Majesty the Queen for the supply of tweeds.
There are plenty of places to enjoy a coffee or a meal. Just outside the village is the Robertson Farm shop where you can see Highland cattle and alpacas up close.
There are a number of fairly gentle walks around the village. We offer a free guided walk round Beauly which you can download to your phone from our tours page. Further afield is Glen Affric Nature Reserve, considered one of the most beautiful glens in Scotland. The area is also home to a significant number of Munros (mountains in Scotland over 3,000 feet).

Guest Reviews
Great feedback from guests far and wide. Always good to hear what we’ve done right!
We found the location of the Downright Gabbler in Beauly very convenient being right in the middle of town and within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants etc. Although parking outside was not exclusive to guests of the Gabbler, we had no trouble parking there whenever we came back from a day out.

The attention to detail and commitment to a classy décor is evident; Jane and Garry seem to care deeply about creating the right atmosphere, and as far as I’m concerned they get it right every time. Every place of theirs we have stayed in has been a delight. and the Caithness room at the Gabbler is further evidence of that care.

A very clean, comfortable and stylish little flat in a great location for touring around the Highlands.
Visit the tallest trees in Britain in the magical Reelig Glen which is just 10 minutes drive away. Glen Affric is also worth a visit if you want an easy-ish walk in some great scenary but don't want to drive too far.
